Grace In Suffering by Kara Tippetts

“Kara’s Collection: Grace in Suffering”
"Suffering is the place where what our hearts really believe is tested. Suffering is the place that puts heat on the places we have given our strength to in our living. Suffering often comes to the strong and is met with bitter anger. It isn’t the suffering that causes the anger but the taking of strength..." Posted by Kara Tippetts, March 27, 2014; click here for complete article.
After I read Kara’s article, I thought about what God told Paul in 2 Corinthians 12:9; but I am writing out verses 7, 8, & 10 also:
2 Corinthians 12:7-10 (Amplified Bible, Classic Edition – AMPC):
And to keep me from being puffed up and too much elated by the exceeding greatness (preeminence) of these revelations, there was given me a thorn ([a] a splinter) in the flesh, a messenger of Satan, to rack and buffet and harass me, to keep me from being excessively exalted.
8 Three times I called upon the Lord and besought [Him] about this and begged that it might depart from me;
9 But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and [b]show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may [c]pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me!
10 So for the sake of Christ, I am well pleased and take pleasure in infirmities, insults, hardships, persecutions, perplexities and distresses; for when I am weak [[d]in human strength], then am I [truly] strong (able, powerful [e]in divine strength).
When we are suffering, let us not cry out to God because we are losing OUR strength, OUR control of things, but let us cry out to God for His strength; that is the only way we will obtain God's strength! When we are weak, have given up trying to be in control of our situation, THEN God can and will, show Himself strong in our lives!
Let us stop fooling ourselves, we have no strength and is in control of absolutely nothing; we can do nothing and is nothing, without God!! But with God, ALL things are possible; IF we believe in God and believe what He says (Matthew 19:26; Philippians 4:13)! When we are weak, have given up trying to be in control of our situation, THEN God can and will, show Himself strong in our lives; in our situations!
Let us grab hold of God's agenda for our lives, let go of our own, and let Him direct our paths! When we seek first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness (what is right in God's eyes), all the things we want, will come to past (as long as they are God's will for our lives)! If you don't know what the will of God is for your life, ask Him-God has a plan for each of us!
I suggest you read Kara's complete article on "Grace in Suffering;" I posted the link at the beginning, but here it is again: click here for article. Kara passed March 22, 2015, from breast cancer; to the end, she believed God! Click here, to read about Kara and part of her journey; it will inspire you.
God bless you all,
Dr. Dorothy E. Hooks

Mercy - by Amanda Cook - WorshipMob cover

Paleo Diet Examined

I was thinking about going on the paleo diet, because of its nutritional claim. I received a free book that explained what it was, and even gave meal plans. But when I begin to read the book, the first paragraph and a half, caused me to be disturbed in my spirit man-it is like an alert went off-I know it was Holy Spirit warning me! This is what the Author of the book said; several key things really stood out as I read the paragraphs – I have put them in bold:
"Paleo is a way of life. The name and concept of the Paleo lifestyle is based on the idea of eating what our human ancestors subsisted on during the Paleolithic era. Our ancestors were hunters and gatherers who ate only what they could harvest, fish, hunt, or scavenge. Paleo followers believe that our bodies were designed to eat as these early people did, and doing so will enable us to remain healthy, muscular, and fit.
Paleo nutritionists and many other scientists believe that evolution has not caught up with the advances of our society. By consuming the foods that sustained our ancestors..."
After reading those lines, I was prompted by Holy Spirit, to look up three things and I have added the links to my searches for you to read yourself and let Holy Spirit speak to you:
1. What is the Paleolithic era?
 https://www.britannica.com/event/Paleolithic-Period

 2. Does the Paleolithic era correspond with the Bible?
http://www.whatchristianswanttoknow.com/what-does-the-bible-say-about-cavemen-or-the-stone-age/

3. Should a Christians follow a paleo diet?
http://www.born-again-christian.info/answers/natural-christian-unprocessed-whole-food-health-diets-and-dietry-suppliments.htm

After reading these articles, I know this is not a diet God wants me to start! First, the Bible says man is created in God's image and likeness (Genesis1:26-27); man did not come from apes - I do not believe in evolution (if you believe in evolution, you do not believe Genesis 1:26-27, which means, you do not believe God)! Second, I choose not to participate in any pagan belief's ways (evolution here but anything that does not line up with the Word of God)! Third, I know this is not what God wants me to do, because if He did, Holy Spirit would not have warned me; I could not shake that uneasiness that was in my spirit!
I am posting this on the paleo diet, so you all will know the FULL facts about it, in case you are on it or thinking about doing it. The Holy Spirit is teaching me more and more, that as a Christians, I have to be very careful in EVERYTHING I do; I am passing this knowledge on to you all. Because we as Christians, are not our own; Jesus paid for us with His precious Blood so we belong to Him – Jesus redeemed us from the curse of the law and gave us freedom (Galatians3:13-14; Ephesians1:7)
We cannot jump on the bandwagon, that the world is on; we are in this world but not of this world – we are of God's Kingdom but the whole world belongs to the devil (John17:14-16; John15:9; 1John 5:19)! Therefore, we are to be led by Holy Spirit in EVERYTHING we do (Romans8:14; Galatians5:16-18)!
The devil is a master deceiver and he loves to mix truth with a lie; he makes things attractive to us, by throwing in less than 1% truth and the rest lies! The devil has the same tricks he had years ago; as the Bible says, “There is nothing new under the sun” (Ecclesiastes1:9); the devil tries to do us, like he did to Eve - get us confused with the Word - but God is not the Author of confusion (Genesis 3).
Like I said earlier, I was looking at the diet because the Author said it had nutritional value, but that was a trick; thank God for exposing the devil's lie!
IF we listened to Holy Spirit, we will NEVER go wrong; we only see the surface of things, but Holy Spirit knows what is going on beneath the surface! However, if we listen to the devil, we will be tricked like Eve was; the devil talked with her, she answered, and next thing you know, she disobeyed what God said by listening at what the devil said (Genesis3:1-6) – we can learn from Eve – don’t hold a conversation with the devil – rebuke him.
We must ALWAYS consult God, even in small things, and listen for Holy Spirit to speak – stop thinking inside the box because God has MANY ways to speak with you!
I want to end this teaching with Proverbs3:5-7 and will write out Genesis1:26-27 for you also.
5 Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.
In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.
7 Be not wise in your own eyes; reverently fear and worship the Lord and turn [entirely] away from evil.
26 God said, Let Us [Father, Son, and Holy Spirit] make mankind in Our image, after Our likeness, and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the [tame] beasts, and over all of the earth, and over everything that creeps upon the earth.
27 So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Join Me For An Online Bible Study With Bianca Juarez Olthoff, "Play With Fire!"

Hello Everyone,
I want to let you know about a Bible Study that I am excited to be starting soon. It's called Play With Fire, taught by Bianca Juarez Olthoff, a first generation American who loves Scripture and is a phenomenal expositor of the Word. This is her first published book and study, but she's not at all new to the teaching scene and has been a speaker at Christian women's conferences like IF Gathering, Propel Women, Thrive, She Is Chosen, and more!

If I had to sum up the Play With Fire study in three short bullet points, it would be:
  • You will study five key stories in the Bible when FIRE is referenced to gain new insight into God’s character. He revealed Himself to Moses in the burning bush and led the Israelites in a pillar of fire. He walked with the three Hebrew youth in a fiery furnace. His Holy Spirit appeared like tongues of flame above the heads of the early Christians at Pentecost. How cool is that? And what does it all mean? When have you ever studied before the links between all those stories and how God uses fire to reveal His presence to His people?
  • You will discover the personal and powerful nature of the Holy Spirit, and
  • You will start to understand how to identify your spiritual gifts and the unique fire God has placed in you!

Bianca is a powerful and passionate speaker and this study is going to be life-changing!

I know that life gets BUSY, so this is definitely a come-when-you-can type of Bible study. If you think you can make even 3 or 4 of these dates, then COME! I’d love to have you!

We will have our first meeting on [insert date and time] at [insert location] for a total of five weeks, and we will wrap up before Thanksgiving!

All you will need for the study is a Bible and a copy of the Play With Fire study guide, which is just $7.99 with my coupon code. That’s it! Bianca and the people at FaithGateway are making the companion videos available online for free, so even if you miss a week you can catch up and do the reading on your own.

Plus, to help you get started there are free downloads for Week 1 on the website. Go ahead and sign up to get the first chapters for FREE:

I have put together the complete teaching for Week One, Day 1, for you but you can get your own free materials when you sign up; I am also putting the link to the video by Bianca for Week One.

God bless you all,

Dr. Dorothy E. Hooks

Free Copy of My Ebook "Unholy Matrimony: Healing For The Abused Woman October Only!

The Synopsis of “Unholy Matrimony: Healing For The Abused Woman 2nd Edition"

In the 2nd Edition of Dr. Dorothy E. Hooks’ book, “Unholy Matrimony: Healing For The Abused Woman,” she talks about the consequences of marrying outside the will of God. Dr. Hooks states, “We form ungodly soul ties and get involved with ungodly people when we don’t acknowledge God in all our ways. This can and most likely will cause us to become victims of domestic violence.”
Dr. Hooks believes it is very important not to marry without first making sure the two are compatible with each other (only God’s knows and He will let the persons know) if they consult Him. In this book, Dr. Hooks fully explains soul ties, their results on the individual, offer a prayer to be delivered from soul ties and much, much more.
“Unholy Matrimony: Healing For The Abused Woman” is dedicated to all the women (men too have benefited from the book) who have been abused in their relationships and to those who have not been abused. To those who have been abused and are not free from soul ties and the effects of domestic violence/abuse, this book can give you hope. To those who have not been abused, this book is a manual which will teach you how not to be abused. Through Dr. Hooks’ experiences, you will see how God brought her out of bondage, and healed and restored her. Today, Dr. Hooks is allowing God to have total control of her life and she gives all the glory, honor, and praise to God for her life!
