Four Classes of Anger Defined:

Webster’s definition of Anger: 1) a feeling of extreme displeasure, hostility, indignation or exasperation toward someone or something; rage, wrath. 2) Trouble, pain, and affliction.

  1. Resentment – ill will and suppressed anger generated by a sense of grievance.

  2. Anger – a feeling of extreme displeasure, hostility, indignation or exasperation toward someone or something; rage, wrath. 2) Trouble, pain, and affliction (as stated above).

  3. Rage – closely related to the sense of intense, un-contained, explosive emotion. Rage appears to be more justified by circumstances. For example, when one feels indignation at seeing the mistreatment of someone or something dear and worthy.

  4. Fury – more destructive

  5. Wrath - fervid anger that seeks vengeance or punishment on a large scale.

What Makes Us Angry? – Part 2B (Continued)

  • Hurt (usually from the past) – childhood experiences – emotional, physical, sexual abuse, adolescence experiences (this is when satan really begin to play with your mind by feeding you lies about yourself and others), also, hurts can come from adult experiences such as job, marriage, and relationships.

  • Frustration (usually in the present) – examples:
           - Something does not go your way

           - You can’t do something you want to do when you want to do it

           - Can’t watch what you want on TV

           - You want to take a shower but there is no water

           - You want to be alone but people will not leave you alone

  • Fear or Anxiety – we feel threatened or anxious
           - Fear – you are threatened physically or emotionally. This can also be you are afraid

you will be made to look like a fool.

           - Anxiety – you anticipate a problem as if it had already happened. Anxiety is a

disturbed state of mind produced by real or imaginary fears. It is overcame by

             trusting in God (Ps 37:1-5 – read); prayer (Phil. 4:6); God’s care (1 Peter 5:6, 7).

Review Previous Session:

-Biblical References to Anger

-Anger is the second most frequently mentioned emotion in Scripture; mentioned more than 455 times in the Old Testament with 375 of those referring to God’s anger; God get angry with us when we disobey Him.

-Anger is a God-given emotion, and is one of the most powerful and controlling of all the emotions. When anger is not properly dealt with, it is one of the most dangerous.

-God gave us anger as an emotion, but He also gave us instructions on how to handle, express, or control it. Some scriptures on Anger:

  • Proverbs 15:1 – “A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger (this shows angry is already in you).”

  • Proverbs 16:32 – “He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.”

  • Proverbs 19:19 – “Hot-tempered people must pay the penalty. If you rescue them once, you will have to do it again.”(If we rescue impatient friends from their problems once, we will probably rescue them again and again). Read rest from bible.

  • Matthew 5:43-48 – “You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy. 44But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! 45In that way, you will be acting as true           children of your Father in heaven. For He gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and He sends rain on the just and the unjust alike. 46If you love only those who love you, what rewards is there for that? Even corrupt tax collectors do that much. 47If you are kind only to your friends, how are you different from anyone else? Even pagans do that. 48But you are to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.”

  • Romans 12:19 – “Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it written, ‘Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,’ says the Lord.”

  • Ephesians 4:26 – “Be angry, and do not sin, do not let the sun go down on your wrath.”

  • James 1:19,20 – “So then, my beloved brethren, let every man swift  to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not     produce the righteousness of God.

-Anger is not the problem. The problem is how we handle or express our anger. An unhealthy expression of anger is Sin.

-In the above Scriptures, it tells us how to handle and not to handle anger so we will not sin when we get angry.

-An appropriate or productive use of anger is when Jesus became angry at the money changers and the Pharisees. An inappropriate or unproductive use of anger was in the Garden of G when Peter became angry at the soldiers when they came to arrest Jesus and cut one of their ears off; he sinned by using violence when he was angry.

New Recovery Program Begins Today!! "AWM Anger Management Recovery Program" Session One: Info & Overview Feb 4, 2014 - Recovery For Abused Women

New Recovery Program Begins Today!! "AWM Anger Management Recovery Program" Session One: Info & Overview Feb 4, 2014 - Recovery For Abused Women

The "AWM
Anger Management Recovery Program," which is a part of our "Tools for
Triumphant Living" Christian Education Program which was developed by
Charlana Kelly,
purpose is to help those who are recently out of
abusive relationships or is still struggling with the effects from
previous abuse - have anger issues - if you are angry, you have not
fully forgiven the person or persons who hurt you. If that's the case,
you might need to go back through the "Importance of Forgiveness Recovery Program;" or take it first if you have not taken it before.

In
this recovery program, I will help you through your recovery process
one step at a time; this is a program God gave me and I am giving it to
you as He gave it to me. The "AWM Anger Management Recovery Program" is also an interactive Program just like the "AWM Importance of Forgiveness Recovery Program" and "AWM Violence & Abuse Recovery Program;"
therefore, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss
whatever part of the teaching you want either via email to me directly (dehooks@abusedwoman.org), on the Recovery For Abused Women Blog web site, on the Abused Woman Ministries, Inc. main Facebook page or on the Abused Woman Ministry School of Healing Facebook page.

This program is part of “Journey of Freedom: Pursuing Freedom From The Bondage of Traumatic Experiences" which is a declaration for 2013 - 2014 and beyond that you are going to continually pursue your freedom from whatever
that has had you in bondage for years, recently, or at present using
the components of the Program!! Continually pursuit of your freedom
means that you will stay free by any means necessary!! You will no
longer tolerate foolishness of any kind!! You will rise up and by God's
grace take back everything that the enemy has stolen from you (your
self-esteem, your self-worth, your freedom to live life as God designed
you to, your boldness God gave you through Jesus, and much, much more!!

This year, 2014, is the beginning of your life and the best is yet to
come!!! God has a plan and purpose for your life and I am your life
coach; I am here to show you how to be set free from bondages so you can
know and embrace God's will for your life!!

Abused Woman Ministries, Inc.
is dedicated to helping women, their children and men who have been
abused! We do this by providing them with the tools they need to recover
from the bondage of domestic violence and abuse. However, we know that
domestic violence/abuse is not the only traumatic event that can keep a
person from having a healthy relationship!

Therefore, we will also focus on recovering from the following traumatic experiences in the "Journey of Freedom: Pursuing Freedom From The Bondage of Traumatic Experiences:" sexual assault, rejection, abandonment, neglect, loneliness and whatever other traumatic experience God gives me to include.

I
am dedicated to walking with you (I cannot do it for you – I am an
instrument that God is using to help you recover – as He gives me your
tools of recovery, I give them to you then you must decide to take this
journey) so are you dedicated to take the journey?
I
understand you have busy schedules so I have broken the program down
into smaller parts to accommodate your busy schedule and I will post the
new teaching once a week on Tuesday – that way you will have a week to
study it. And if you cannot start this Program now, start when you get
ready to start; it will always be available on our Blog site:
www.abusedwoman.ning.com!
The
journey may not be easy but we are in this together and we will hold
each other up; no person left behind!!! If you have any problems contact
