Anger & You Quiz Discussion – Part 2C (Continued):

The answers are all false on the “Anger & You” quiz; does this surprise you? Many people have misconceptions about anger. Did you know that “anger” for many, many years (probably before most of us were born or grown up) was the only socially permissible and acceptable emotion for a man to show (men was taught to be cold-hearted and not to show emotions; boys don’t cry). If a man showed any other emotion, they were labeled as “weak-not a real man.” In some homes, cultures, and countries, this is still believed today. Wow! No wonder there is so much domestic violence in the home. This belief seed was planted long ago by the enemy to destroy families.

You thought that was something, listen to this: for women it was the opposite - it was the only socially unacceptable emotion - “nice girls don’t get angry.” The enemy was setting the women up to allow men to totally dominate them; by any means necessary. Adam’s disobedience opened up Pandora’s Box. It opened the door for every evil thing we can and cannot imagine; no wonder God does not want us to walk in disobedience - He says it’s the same sin as witchcraft.

Expressions of Anger
- Anger becomes a problem when it is expressed in a way that hurts you or hurts others; or when it is the only feeling you allow yourself to experience. You must be able to identify destructive behaviors caused by anger and clarification of description of any. Here is a list of destructive behaviors that anger can cause if not dealt with properly:
                   -Physically abusing others
                   -Emotionally abusing others
                   -Breaking personal items
                   -Breaking people’s possessions
- We must examine ourselves if we truly want to combat anger.
